Certification Policy

The CPD Centre is committed to maintaining the integrity, credibility, and professional value of all certificates issued through its training, professional development, capacity-building, consulting, coaching, and learning programmes.

This Policy outlines the requirements, procedures, and conditions governing the issuance, replacement, verification, suspension, and withdrawal of certificates issued by The CPD Centre.

1. Purpose

The purpose of this Policy is to:

  • Ensure fairness and consistency in certification.

  • Protect the integrity of The CPD Centre's credentials.

  • Establish clear certification requirements.

  • Provide guidance on certificate issuance and verification.

  • Maintain confidence among participants, employers, sponsors, and stakeholders.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to:

  • Face-to-face training programmes

  • Online learning programmes

  • Blended learning programmes

  • Workshops

  • Seminars

  • Conferences with certification components

  • Professional development programmes

  • Executive education programmes

  • Competency-based programmes

  • Certification programmes

  • Customized corporate programmes

3. Types of Certificates

The CPD Centre may issue one or more of the following certificates.

Certificate of Participation

Awarded to participants who attend a programme but where no formal assessment is required.

Certificate of Completion

Awarded to participants who successfully complete all required learning activities.

Certificate of Competence

Awarded where participants successfully demonstrate achievement of specified competencies through assessment.

Certificate of Achievement

Awarded to participants who successfully complete a programme and satisfy specified performance criteria.

Digital Certificates

Certificates may be issued electronically through The CPD Centre's learning management systems or digital certification platforms.

Digital certificates shall have the same validity as printed certificates unless otherwise stated.

4. Certification Requirements

To qualify for certification, participants must satisfy all applicable programme requirements.

Requirements may include:

Attendance Requirements

Participants must attend the minimum attendance threshold specified for the programme.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Face-to-face programmes require a minimum attendance of 80%.

  • Online programmes require completion of all mandatory learning activities.

Assessment Requirements

Where assessments are included, participants must:

  • Complete all required assessments.

  • Achieve any required pass marks.

  • Meet competency standards where applicable.

Financial Requirements

Certificates shall only be issued where all applicable programme fees have been paid in full.

The CPD Centre reserves the right to withhold certificates where outstanding fees remain unpaid.

Conduct Requirements

Participants must comply with:

  • Academic Integrity Policy

  • Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct

  • Programme rules and requirements

Participants found guilty of misconduct may become ineligible for certification.

5. Certificate Issuance

Certificates will normally be issued within:

  • 5 to 15 working days after programme completion; or

  • Such period as specified for a particular programme.

Certification timelines may vary depending on:

  • Assessment moderation

  • Verification requirements

  • Programme complexity

  • Accreditation requirements

6. Information Appearing on Certificates

Certificates may include:

  • Participant name

  • Programme title

  • Completion date

  • Certificate number

  • Unique verification reference

  • Authorized signatures

  • CPD hours where applicable

  • Organizational branding

The CPD Centre reserves the right to determine certificate format and design.

7. Digital Certification and Verification

The CPD Centre may issue certificates electronically.

To protect certificate integrity, certificates may include:

  • Unique certificate numbers

  • Verification codes

  • QR codes

  • Digital authentication mechanisms

Employers, sponsors, and other stakeholders may verify certificates through procedures established by The CPD Centre.

8. Certificate Verification Requests

The CPD Centre may verify the authenticity of certificates upon request.

Verification requests must include sufficient information to identify the certificate holder and certificate being verified.

The CPD Centre reserves the right to refuse verification requests where:

  • Consent requirements have not been satisfied;

  • Information provided is insufficient; or

  • Verification would violate privacy obligations.

9. Replacement Certificates

Participants may request replacement certificates where:

  • Certificates are lost;

  • Certificates are damaged;

  • Certificates contain administrative errors; or

  • Additional copies are required.

The CPD Centre may charge an administrative fee for replacement certificates.

Proof of identity may be required before replacements are issued.

10. Corrections

Participants must notify The CPD Centre promptly if certificate information is incorrect.

Where errors are attributable to The CPD Centre, corrected certificates will be issued without charge.

Where errors result from inaccurate information supplied by the participant, an administrative fee may apply.

11. Withholding of Certificates

The CPD Centre reserves the right to withhold certification where:

  • Fees remain unpaid;

  • Attendance requirements have not been met;

  • Assessment requirements have not been met;

  • Misconduct investigations are ongoing;

  • Programme requirements remain incomplete.

12. Withdrawal of Certificates

The CPD Centre reserves the right to withdraw, cancel, revoke, or invalidate certificates where:

  • Fraud is detected;

  • Academic misconduct is established;

  • Certification was issued based on false information;

  • Administrative errors materially affect validity;

  • Programme requirements were not properly satisfied.

Any withdrawal of certification shall be supported by documented evidence and communicated formally to the affected individual.

13. Recognition of Certificates

Certificates issued by The CPD Centre confirm successful participation, completion, achievement, or competence in a specified programme.

Unless expressly stated, certificates issued by The CPD Centre do not constitute:

  • Academic degrees;

  • National qualifications;

  • Professional licences; or

  • Statutory authorizations to practice.

Participants are encouraged to review programme descriptions for specific recognition arrangements.

14. Record Retention

The CPD Centre maintains certification records for verification and administrative purposes.

Certification records may be retained in accordance with:

  • Records Management Policy;

  • Data Protection Policy;

  • Applicable legal requirements; and

  • Accreditation requirements.

15. Appeals

Participants may appeal certification decisions through The CPD Centre Complaints & Appeals Policy.

Appeals must be submitted in writing within fourteen (14) calendar days of notification of the decision.

16. Policy Review

This Policy shall be reviewed periodically to ensure continued relevance, effectiveness, and alignment with accreditation, regulatory, and industry requirements.
